For anyone arriving in Queretaro to live for any length of time, I can’t recommend highly enough, the services of Ivonne Pavaan at Host Relocation Services. Whether you need help with immigration issues (like going to the INM office), pre-move advice, or finding a place to live or purchase. From our very first exchange via email (I was living in Italy), Ivonne clearly and efficiently presented my options and recommended a logical path for my case. Her advice and help were invaluable for my preparation.
Once I arrived, that very day, she met me, took me too get the correct sized photos for immigration and talked me through what would transpire. The next day, a Wednesday, she went to INM and filed all my paperwork with the photos and copied of my passport and temporary resident visa (TRV). I didn’t even have to go with her! Then, TA DAH!!!, the following Tuesday INM advised her that I could pick up my resident card the next day. She picked me up at my hotel and we arrived at INM about 8:30 in the morning, then she instructed me on how to proceed since at that point, she was not allowed to accompany me. I went in, grabbed a number, and, miraculously, an hour later I had the finished card in my hand! Wow! We could not believe that in exactly one week, I had my card, my CURP (like a Social Security number) and I was officially legal in Mexico! Way to go, Ivonne!
In the meantime we began the hunt for my new home in Queretaro. Ivonne regularly sent me possible choices for me to peruse. A few seemed like good possibilities and Ivonne and her delightful cohort Katia patiently drove me to the best of these to see them in person. We finally hit on a winner, and they helped me through the lease application process, which has now been finalized, and it appears I will take possession of my new home exactly one month after arriving in Queretaro!
Yeah, I could have done this one my own, I managed to do so in Italy four years ago. But I think Mexico’s procedures are a bit more complicated and Ivonne and her hard-working crew made it as simple and painless as possible for me. I could not be more satisfied with the way things worked out. The plus is that Ivonne and Katia are both cheerful, patient, and fun to be with! I now would certainly consider them to be friends, not just hired guns!

Host Relocation made our residency so easy. I had the checklists to do it myself, but in retrospect, I could never have accomplished what Ivonne did. There were no issues whatsoever, and it was so quick.
They also helped with the TIP for our car. Ivonne somehow knew that there was a new office at the airport to handle this.

I would Like to Thank Ivonne for the help with my temporary residency, and change of address. As well as the assistance from Katia for the help with finding this great little apt with the most gorgeous view of Querétaro. She also invited me to trial Spanish class coming up tomorrow. With Ivonne's help I know that things will get done correctly, legally and she will look out that I am not given any incorrect info from the bureaucracy.
After I completed that first step in obtaining Temporary Residency at the Orlando, Florida consulate, I realized I was going to need more assistance completing the second part in Mexico. As a retired solo female I began my journey Oct 26th driving from Florida. Fourteen hours later I arrived in Houston, Texas for a few days of rest. I would leave Texas the morning of Oct 31, and arrive about 6 hours later at the Laredo border. On the Mexico side I stopped at Banjercito to obtain my FMM card, vehicle permit and the 30 day Visa stamp for Monterrey. While I was in Monterrey I was told their immigration office does not except walk-ins, appointments only and their earliest was Jan 10th. I only had 30 days to get everything done including extending my car permit for a year.
That's when I remembered seeing Ivonne on The Backpacking Brunnette's YouTube channel and immediately emailed her of my situation. We kept in contact through email and then WhatsApp. She advised me that the entire process would be handled within 30 days in Queretaro. On Nov.10th, I drove from Monterrey for 8 to 10 hours due to traffic and construction, I would arrive at my Queretaro Airbnb that evening. The next few days I would go on an awesome 4 hour walking tour of historic Centro Queretaro with Ivonne and Sarah the famous tour guide. Then onto an enjoyable Saturday brunch where I would meet other friendly newcomers and expats. After brunch Ivonne drove me to get pictures for the INM office.
Now for the big day. Nov.,17th she picked me at my Airbnb along with another person who was from Kentucky also going through the temporary residency process. We arrived at the Queretaro INM office before opening. While we waited in line Ivonne gave us our completed paperwork with the mini thumbnail pictures in a Host Relocation Co. manila folder. On that day, walk-ins and same day service was available. Ivonne stayed with us from start to finish answering all questions and told us if asked that we were here for our "Canje." About 3 hours later I received my Temporary Residency green card. The other person did as well. It was an exciting day and worth the wait!
On Friday of the same week she took me to extend my car permit for a year. Because of the timeframe I would've had to leave Mexico and start the process all over again in Florida if I had not contacted Ivonne when I did.
At present I am enjoying Mexico and the additional services provided, such as assisting me in finding the best apartment for my needs. Having Ivonne and Katia tour apartments with you is an education. You learn about Mexico real estate and enjoy the mountain landscape. It's definitely helpful when they negotiate prices and fees for you as well translate your concerns and questions. Ivonne also scheduled me for Spanish classes.
